Cecchi in brief
In 1893 Luigi Cecchi, inspired by the charm of wine, decided to set up his own business as a “palatist” – a taster and mediator – laying the foundations for what is now one of Tuscany’s most internationally famous winemaking estates. In 1908, the eldest son Cesare began working with his father and, in just a few years, Cecchi became well known in almost every Italian region. The expansion was so widespread that it crossed the national boundaries as early as 1935. Cesare died in 1953 while still relatively young and his son Luigi was left to run the company alone. Today, as well as the Cecchi Wineries, the Cecchi properties include three estates in Tuscany located between the areas of Chianti Classico (Villa Cerna, 1962), San Gimignano (Montaùto, 1988) and the Maremma (Val delle Rose, 1995), and one in Umbria (Alzatura, 2000), in the Montefalco area. For each of these estates, the Cecchi family has invested in both the vineyards and human resources, and uses the most advanced technology.
Since 2004, following the death of Luigi, his sons Cesare and Andrea, along with their mother Anita, have run the company with enthusiasm and passion.
We also offer to our clients the possibility to visit our estate.
