Castello di Fonterutoli in brief
Castello di Fonterutoli is one of the most historic properties in Chianti belonging to the Mazzei family since 1435. Lapo Mazzei says, "I like to think that our family tree is like a hardy and generous grapevine, because our history has always been closely linked to the vineyard, cellars and wine." The Mazzei family has historical ties to Tuscany’s political and cultural life as well. The estate’s signature wine, Castello di Fonterutoli, is a full-bodied statement with a great structure, intense ruby-red color and hints of blackberries, licorice and spices. Made from 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, this distinctive wine pairs best with wild game.
